A Rock Solid and Quiet High Performance PSU
The BFG ES-800 has not only met my expectations as a sturdy SLI-capable power supply, but has also exceeded them. BFG has what can only be described as a winner on their hands with the ES-800 PSU. It is quiet, stable and very efficient. The PSU offers every possible connection you could need and allows for a wide variety of configurations. Even better is the fact that this PSU offers excellent levels of efficiency and a wide range of power levels. So realistically, if you had a smaller PC or HTPC and wanted to pimp your system to an ultimate gaming machine, the ES-800 will have you covered. As if that wasn't enough, it is also able to supply all of this clean, efficient power at a temperature when most other power supplies would seriously degrade if not fail.

At the end of the day, the power supply needs to be the one piece of equipment most heavily scrutinized inside anyone's PC. Without stable power, all expensive hardware components become vulnerable and it's only a matter of time before they get zapped. With that said, I can wholeheartedly recommend the ES-800 from BFG as a power supply worthy of everyone's attention.

Very good product
This power supply is reasonably priced and works great. It powers my 8800 GT without a glitch. I also have 3 hard drives (2 in a mirror), burner, and a Crosshair motherboard all this works fine without a problem.

There are enough connectors to go around for the modern gaming rig and for the legacy or modern hard drive user.

Really smooth
This is a very good heat sink. It's a little bit big but if you have a mid tower case you should not have problems installing it in your system. My CPU (AMD Athlon 64 bit 3.0 GHz 6000+) runs around 45 degrees Celsius without load and around 65 degrees under full load. According to fan speed the rpm is 2660 RPM!!. One more thing. Remember that i don't have ac in my room!!

If you where wondering if you can connect to CPU directly to the Mobo instead of connecting it to the speed controller well guess what you can.

Works well but not exactly whisper quiet.
I think this does a better job then the stock cooler, as it directs the heated air out the back of the case. One of the easier ones to install, took all of 5 min. One down side for me is the fan, while quiet, is not totally silent. But then I expect my PC to make no noise at all when it is running. Probably not the best choice for a HTPC. I think the price is a bit on the high side also.

Great CPU Cooler
Works Great. nice design, well built. Keeps CPU around 44-50C at full load. Install was very simple, just one clip that easily attaches to cpu mount on motherboard. Pretty big though, so I wouldnt recomend it to anyone without at least mid-size case.

Very efficient
Well this is quite a cpu cooler I must say. It has my Amd Athlon X2 6000+ at about 35 degrees Celsius on full load, which is what my liquid cooling had it at before I threw that out.Make sure that you have enough space in your computer case before you buy this monster though. You can't tell on the page, but this thing is an enormous hunk of metal!

The best cooler.
Best fan CPU cooler on earth, my X2 AMD is running cool and happy. Also, you can't get quieter than this unless you go for passive or water cooling. It may appear expensive but it's worth it.

Caveat emptor: Beware of Microsoft Vista problems!
The FireWire connection with this unit only worked once I solved a problem
with MS Vista (this is a shortcoming of Microsoft, not Macally):
MS Vista (SP1, no less!) does not detect a Firewire drive if it can also be connected via USB!!

To solve this problem, you must edit the Windows Registry.
Step-by step instructions are found on the Microsoft support site,

I hope this will get fixed automatically in a future hotfix update!

It's not a difficult hack, but it's a hack nevertheless so novice PC users
may not be comfortable using this product with MS Vista (and if you're just
going to use the USB connection, there are cheaper products available).

Overall, this enclosure works as advertised and is a decent product at a great price.

Four more comments:
1. as another reviewer has pointed out before, this unit is FIREWIRE 400 (IEEE-1394A), NOT FIREWIRE 800 (IEEE-1394B)!

2. Interestingly, the USB connector is a mini-A but the Firewire connectors on the unit are full size!

3. the unit comes complete with 3 cables (USB, USB power cable and full size, heavy FireWire cable). While this product is definitely designed for use with a laptop, the firewire cable is too bulky to lug around. I replaced it with Retractable Firewire Cable.

4. The first unit I bought was (partially) DOA. USB worked but the power connector
was broken, so no FireWire (I didn't need to attach the separate power cord for USB). Unfortunately I only noticed that a month after I bought the unit, so I had to contact Macally directly to exchange the broken unit. It was tough to find contact information on their website (they say nothing about returns - in the end I contacted techsupport@macally.com) but once I was in touch with them, they were very competent to deal with. It still took a few weeks for me to complete the RMA exchange. What was nice is that they replaced the unit with a new, boxed one, including cables!

Snazzy Little Drive
I bought this in order to use a space 2.5" SATA drive that I own, and it does that wonderfully. It is easy to change the drive that is in it, and the drive is well secured on the inside, The whole drive feels secure and is easy to use. The on/off switch is a little unneeded, but it's nice on occasion to be able to leave the drive plugged in and have the light on.

Overall, a very good drive, highly recommended.

Fantastic product
I think this is one of the best hard disk cases you can get. I've had many different types of cases and Macally's consistently hold up to the abuse a mobile hard disk can get. They back up their durability with superior electronics.

I currently have a 250GB 7200 RPM Hitachi drive in this, but I've also run a 320GB 7200 RPM Seagate drive and both of them performed GREAT. Firewire always works, no additional power necessary. USB requires the second port to get the drive to spin up but one of the things I LOVE about Macally is that their power cable is a separate cable, allowing me to use an external USB adapter to spin the drive up before I plug the USB cable into the computer. This prevents some macs and pcs from shutting down a usb port that is demanding too much power. Very convenient. If you prefer the double-ended usb cables, this drive works fine with those too even though it does not include one.

I've used this on an IBM ThinkPad running Linux and on three different Apple Macintosh computers, a Macbook, a Macbook Pro (new model), and an iMac.

It is also such a durable case I never put it in a slipcover. I just toss these in my backpack and go.

Quality, durability, reliability, and protection - in one of the most portable cases out there. Get one, you'll love it.

Does the job on my Macbook
Overall I like it:
- Assembly was quick
- A nice feature is that two USB cables are provided: a data cable and a power cable. When I use both cables to connect it to my Macbook's two USB ports, I don't have any problems with the drive shutting down intermittently, as has happened with other enclosures I tried.
- It also works flawlessly with the included firewire cable.

Amazing
When the cat chewed up the earphones that came with my Zune 80GB I was not too sorry. The Zune phones sounded OK, but were annoying because they wouldn't stay put. I used my Sony MDR-V150's for a while, but that was a step backward.

So I decided to take a step up and splurge a bit on Ultimate Ears Super.Fi 4's. The sound is smooth across all frequncies, no booming bass or ice-pick-in-the-ear high frequencies. But with these, I can hear so much more than before. When listening to classical music, not only do I hear the music, but I hear the concert hall as though I was sitting there.

The isolation of background sounds is a bonus. I can keep the volume down a bit and still enjoy my music without interference from TV's or dishwashers or the loudmouth at work who sits in the next cube.

I'm keeping these away from the cat!

Fantastic 'phones, great service
My 4's sound fantastic (as good as my Sennheiser HD 280 pros, go see the CNET review), block out noise as well as "foamies", (the squishy, yellow foam ear plugs) and are very comfortable.

My first set had a problem with one of the drivers. Within a week Tarah had a brand new set on my doorstep (Thanks, Tarah!). So, on the outside chance yours aren't perfect, they'll fix it fast.

Some have said the cord is too short, but I can put my Zen in my front pocket and still have enough slack to be comfortable.

Bass addicts should look elsewhere. These give an accurate, flat response.

Get the UE Super.fi 4's!
